Nested

This series of small acrylic sculptures explores emotionally the notion of belonging and the domestic space.

The different parts that comprise each sculpture are a scaled down model of the walls of my flat, in 1:100 scale.

Re-assembling the walls is done purely on instinct, depending on internal drives and on my emotional status of the moment. As a consequence, the Nested pieces become more or less enclosed, they vary in arrangement and sharpness and they host little figures of myself, which change pose and location accordingly.

Nested represent a sort of refuge from the outer world, a kind of safe heaven... they are hard, enclosed and defensive structures, on a soft, open and vulnerable basis.
